Music at Butler: Rejoice!
A tradition more than thirty years in the making, Butler University’s annual Rejoice! performances, presented by the Butler University Choral Department and School of Music, have celebrated the full measure of the holiday season, with over 150 singers, readers and instrumentalists decked out in festive regalia, on the stage of Clowes Memorial Hall. This year’s presentation continues this meaningful and festive celebration featuring performances by the Butler Chorale and Chamber Singers, Eric Stark, director, the University Choir, John Perkins, director, and the Butler Symphony Orchestra, Richard Auldon Clark, director.
Containing a wide variety of holiday tunes familiar and innovative, including beloved holiday carols, poignant new works such as Kim Andre Arnesen’s I Will Light Candles This Christmas, J.S. Bach’s exuberant celebration Nun ist das Heil (Now has come the salvation), and favorite orchestral pops selections such as Sleigh Ride and A Charlie Brown Christmas. Audiences of all ages, families of Butler students, and families with young children are sure to be in the holiday spirit at this year’s performances; we look forward to welcoming you to this year’s Rejoice!
