Duckwall Artist Series: Mélanie Clapiès and Friends
Join Dr. Mélanie Clapiès with Dr. Amanda Hopson, and Prof. Richard Clark in a chamber music program built around Enescu’s 3rd Violin Sonata.
Enescu wrote his 3rd Violin Sonata “In the Romanian Folk Style.” In this brilliant work, inspired by the sonorities of “Gypsy fiddling” and cimbalom, the violin and the piano explore a unique sound world. The piano’s poetic counterpoint relentlessly unfolds in a highly virtuosic fashion while the violin attempts to capture the accents of the human voice and combines them with the frenetic rhythms of Romanian folk dances.
This performance is free and open to the public, no ticket is required.
Masks are strongly encouraged to be worn by all patrons while in the venue.
