Music at Butler Series: Wind Ensemble
Presented by School of Music

2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Leonard Bernstein, and to celebrate the Butler University Wind Ensemble will be performing works of this American musical icon throughout the year. We begin with one of Bernstein’s best known and most loved scores, his Symphonic Dances from "West Side Story." The program will also include a performance by one the winners of Butler University’s annual Concerto Competition, clarinetist Nolan Cardenas, who will be playing Carl Maria von Weber’s Concertino for Clarinet, Op. 26. Also featured as guest conductor of Percy Grainger’s Irish Tune from County Derry and Shepherd’s Hey is Dr. Daniel Bolin, who will be retiring from Butler University at the end of the semester.
