Presented by School of Music

Evelyn Glennie is the world’s premier solo percussionist. From her leading role in the 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony to her more than 80 international awards, Glennie is the first person in history to successfully create and sustain a full-time career as a solo percussionist. In this special appearance for Butler ArtsFest, Glennie will perform Pulitzer Prize winning composer Jennifer Higdon's "Percussion Concerto." Highlighting the theme of “Dialogues, Debates, and Dichotomies,” the evening will also feature the Butler Wind Ensemble under the direction of Michael Colburn as they perform Ralph Vaughan Williams's "Overture to The Wasps," Steven Bryant's "Ecstatic Waters," and Gustav Holst's "Hammersmith."
