Music at Butler: Butler University Choirs
Showtime: Livestream available October 18 – November 1
Recommended age group: K – 12
Featured on this evening’s performance will be three of Butler’s choral ensembles, including the Butler Chorale, University Choir and Chamber Singers. Showcasing a variety of works from across the centuries, audiences can expect a concert that will be beautiful, moving and toe-tapping fun.
Butler’s University Choir, under the direction of John Perkins, will present two works celebrating stories of women overcoming incredible challenges through “Malala” and “She Who Makes Her Meaning Clear.” The Chamber Singers will present a mix of Renaissance part songs and madrigals, along with the haunting “Rest” by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. And the Butler Chorale, under the direction of Eric Stark, will sing the haunting “Sanctus” by Swiss composer Frank Martin, Benjamin Britten’s sparkling “Festival Te Deum,” the spiritual “My Feet Are Tired But My Soul Is Resting” by Francis Smith Thomas, and Merrill Garbus’s rollicking “Water Fountain.” We look forward to sharing this beautiful music, and the work of our talented students, with you very soon!
