Florence Price was the first African American woman to have a symphony performed by an American Symphony Orchestra. Price attended the New England Conservatory, and was a prolific composer whose contributions have enriched the symphonic and chamber music offerings throughout the 20th century. The program will also include performances of “The Moldau” by Smetana; “The People Speak- Frederick Douglass” by Butler’s own, Richard Auldon Clark featuring esteemed Butler alum, Jeremiah Sanders, Baritone; and “Slavonic March” by Tchaikovsky.
