Student Voices Media Creation Camp

Engagement and empowerment is the focus of Student Voices Media Creation Camp. All campers will have opportunities to come up with ideas, interview, film, and produce their projects. During the week, all students will experience a variety of aspects of media creation through diverse assignments. The ultimate goal is to share their projects in a Friday Showcase.

Ages: 10-14
Grades: 5-9
Camp Hours: 9:00am-4:00pm
Registration Deadline: July 1st, 2025
Tuition: $300 *Full tuition assistance is available for those who qualify financially for free/reduced lunch 
Camp activities provide skill-development through hands-on interviewing, filming, and editing of videos for each day’s assignment. Foundational news literacy and media creation skills form the basis for students, under the guidance of coaches, to utilize their creativity and interests in producing projects.
A letter of recommendation is due after completion of the registration form. For the recommendation letter, ask a teacher or staff member at your school to send a quick email talking about your skills and experience in writing and creating presentations and videos. Daily Schedule Example
  • 9:00-10:00: How did Hinkle get its name? Work on questions for Hinkle tour and possible player interviews.
  • 10:30-12:30: Filming and interviewing for behind-the-scenes reports at Hinkle with CCOM Production Truck. History and Magic of Hinkle and behind the scenes of game day production.
  • 1:00-2:00: Lunch on campus
  • 2:00-3:30: Production of each group’s video report on B-T-S – Hinkle Magic, Snacks
  • 3:30-4:00: Wrap Up the day – plan for tomorrow – be prepared, research, come up with questions for interviews in the field at WISH-TV
