Registration Deadline: one week prior to the start of class; late applications accepted if available space. Please inquire.
Fall 2022 session: September 10–December 10
Spring 2023 session: January 21–April 28
Placement audition required (see skill level requirements below). Within the registration form you will be asked to submit a link to a video audition. The placement audition should include a short piece that is representative of the student’s current skill level.
In the Butler Children’s Orchestra, children ages 7–12 can further develop their musical skills in a group setting. A placement audition is required, with the minimum skill level equaling Suzuki book 2, 3, or 4.
Please note that students must participate in their school orchestra program, if one is offered, in addition to the Butler Children’s Orchestra. The Butler Children’s Orchestra is a strings-only orchestra.
Tuition is due at least one week prior to the first session.
Need-based tuition assistance is available. You may apply for scholarship on the registration form or complete the separate Tuition Assistance Form.

Butler Community Arts School
The Butler Community Arts School offers performing arts instruction to anyone ages 5 and up, including adults. We’re located on the Butler University campus in Indianapolis, Indiana, and our instructors are trained Butler students known as “Teaching Fellows.” The mission of Butler Community Arts School at Butler University is to foster and promote broad access to high-quality arts instruction designed to meet community needs while developing civic-mindedness in University students.
