Transformative $9 Million Gift for Butler Arts & Events Center
Thanks to a generous $9 million gift from the Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation, the arts experience on Butler’s campus and beyond will be funded, starting with significant renovations and improvements to Clowes Memorial Hall, the construction of a multi-purpose music hall/event space (Allen Whitehill Clowes Ballroom), and sets in motion a $100 million Midtown Arts District. These projects are part of Butler’s visionary Gateway Project, aimed at creating a vibrant cultural hub that bridges Butler University and Midtown Indianapolis. The Midtown Arts District will serve as a cornerstone for arts education, community engagement, and world-class performances, honoring the legacy of Allen Whitehill Clowes, a passionate supporter of the arts.
